CMS corrects NCCI files

On January 8, CMS issued a transmittal to correct and replace the NCCI edit files it previously issued.

CMS to analyze changes necessary for processing additional codes

On January 8, CMS issued a transmittal to initiate analysis of institutional online screens to determine the necessary changes to allow for additional ICD-9 diagnosis and procedure codes on claims; the analysis will also examine needed changes to accommodate ICD-10 codes.

Implementation date: April 5, 2010

CMS revises MUE transmittal

On January 8, CMS issued a transmittal to rescind and replace its December 8 transmittal on medically unlikely edits (MUE). The new transmittal makes several changes, including updates to how CMS handles modifier -55.
